Eye contact

Kelly has trouble looking people in their eyes...even with me. Jimmy and I have been trying to get him to do more for himself at places like convenience stores (purchasing the Sunday paper) or ordering his own food. He struggles so hard. I understand his problem. I have the same issues that I struggle with as well.

Kelly doesn't know how to explain why he has such issues with eye contact. And I may not understand his issues, but I can certainly explain mine.

I know this will sound silly, but when I look into someone's eyes, I feel like they can read my mind. You know that saying "The eyes are the windows to one's soul"? Well, I believe that. And I can say that I don't want people looking into my soul...especially strangers.

On the flip side, Jesse is very forward with people. He will walk right up to people and tell some interesting stories...all of them true, but inappropriate. I did find that when we properly prep him, he listens quite well.

The example of this is when Jimmy and I had to go take care of bank business. We only took Jesse, and left Kelly and Harley at home. We gave Jesse instructions to sit quietly while we take care of what needed to be taken care of. He was a perfect angel. I praised him for it and he responded, "Well, you told me to."

I'm not sure where I'm going with this. Just a few thoughts in my head.
